Dozens of scientists from different houses of study and research demonstrated yesterday outside the offices of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) to protest the delay in issuing the call, evaluation and delivery of financial resources for project development.
For the first time, and bound by the "bureaucracy" and a steady increase in the backlog of the CONACYT, the scientific community in the area of \u200b\u200bbasic science, especially, took to the streets to express their disagreement, without affecting the traffic on Avenida Insurgentes Sur, where the council.
"Conacyt against the development of Mexico," "Full scholarships and time", "Country without knowledge = ignorance" were some of the legends expressed in white cards that they carried for several hours, the researchers from the National Autonomous University of Mexico ( UNAM), Autonomous Metropolitan Autonomous State of Mexico, the Autonomous University of Mexico City, the Center for Research and Advanced Studies, National Polytechnic Institute, and several national institutes of health, such as Nutrition, Psychiatry and Pediatrics, all under the Ministry of Health, among many other research centers.
Several of the protesters explained that since the creation of sector funds, which require the joint participation of the secretaries of State and the CONACYT, delays the onset of the call, the evaluation of projects and delivery resources for development have been increasing. Thus, more than 13 months away, the call issued in 2009 has not yet published the results.

After a meeting with a committee of disgruntled researchers, the Conacyt recognized that the delay was because for "some months" were vacant appointments of officials responsible for signing the delivery of these resources. It also pledged that next Saturday afternoon will be published on the website of Conacyt call results Basic Science Fund 2009 and the 2010 call for the same fund.
